About DishDimension

My name is Elizabeth and I am a 16 year old student from Toronto. I have an egg and tree nut allergy as well as a severe peanut allergy. I also developed a sesame seed allergy at 12. My brother has similar allergies and together, we have had many inconvenient and worrisome allergic reactions. We believe the stress of having an allergy shouldn't mean that we or any allergy sufferer worries when they could be focusing on who’s around them.
Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or interviewing for a job, food is generally part of the experience. It can be uncomfortable or sometimes even embarrassing to have to worry about having an allergic reaction.
While the implications of allergies are severe and sometimes deadly, these risks are not always prioritized by those who haven’t experienced the implications firsthand. Too many times have I and many other allergy sufferers experienced asking question after question to a server, possibly coming off as annoying when I want to be safe.
Using a simple red-yellow-green traffic light system for decision making and Gemini-powered analyses, this application aims to fill that gap, and save both us and servers that stress, with specific targeted questions for when you should ask the server about something. I hope to help people eat out without worrying about losing out on anything because of their sensitivities, and rather focusing on their friends and family.
